Flourishes may or may not be a part of your style, but before you rule them out, let’s take some time to play around with them. Flourishes don’t have to be twirling and swirling; they can be simple, straight, or bold. I’ve found that it helps to try and keep your flourishes flowing in a similar direction or angle as one another so that they maintain balance within your piece. Flourishes are a great way to fill in needed space or add extra flair to your lettering. They can be so much fun and add a lot of personality to your work.
